The musical tells the story of a tribe of cats called the Jellicles and the night they make the ‘Jellicle choice’ by deciding which cat will ascend to the Heaviside Layer and come back to a new life.
As of 2022, Cats remains the fifth-longest-running Broadway show and the seventh-longest-running West End show.
AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
DANCE
All auditionees must attend a Dance or Movement Audition There will be two sessions as listed below on Monday 2nd October.
Session 1 – 7:00pm – 8:00pm Movement Audition for Singing & Acting roles.
Please wear sensible dance clothing, jazz shoes, and there will also be a tap component so please bring your tap shoes as well.
VOCAL
The vocal auditions have been scheduled for Sunday, October 1st. Before your voice audition, you must have attended a dance audition. The duration for each audition will be 5 minutes. You might be required to execute a vocal scale.
Prospective candidates are required to prepare one of the following songs:
Female identifying Voices. o Macavity o Gus The theatre cat o Memory (Grizabella Auditionees Only)
Male Identifying Voices o Skimbleshanks o Gumbie Cat
ACTING
Whilst the Production is through sung and Danced, the director will be looking for characterisation, so bring not only your best CAT acting, but also consider that each cat has a personality that mimics that on human personalities and during your dance and singing audition the director will be looking for your ability to create and your agility to “not just stand there” and “not just stick your hands out to look like a cat”.
With a career spanning four decades, the year 2023 marks his 40th anniversary in the entertainment industry as a consummate performer. Scott's credits include performing in Australian professional casts of Billy Elliot, Songs for a New World, and Sugar, among others. He has made appearances in Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, and Guys and Dolls with CLOC. Most recently, he played the role of Bernadette in Priscilla Queen of the Desert with CPAC.

As a graduate of Victorian College of the Arts, Belinda is an accomplished brass and woodwind musician and has played in Orchestras and Bands for over 20 years. Belinda is also an accomplished conductor.
